That was the plan, at least when the Genesis coupe was introduced at the auto show. Not sure whether or not the plan has changed since, given the state of economy now. At the time, however, it was the intent to have the Genesis coupe to go upmarket and take on the halo coupes like the Mustang and the G, and for the Tiburon replacement to continue do battle with those such as the tC or the Eclipse.

I agree with the truth you spoke of, and if Edmunds is anything to go by, even if it was only a first drive, then the Genesis coupe is a capable machine to the G, for example (see paragraph towards the end about the comparisons made vs. the G). If nothing else, Hyundai took another giant step and from what I am seeing, I'm impressed.

You spoke the truth about Hyundai taking another leap forward. It started in the 90's with the quality improvements. My sister has a Hyundai Santa Fe that she has had for over 7 years with almost no problems, instead of a power steering pump.

I can see how much they have improved, considering my cousin has always hated Hyundai's, he has always liked Toyota's and Nissan. He now wants to trade in his Toyota for a Genesis. He loves it. But, how couldn't you, it's a beautiful car.

design of that thing is a mess!
or I dont understand korean(asian) art ?!?

I would take Camaro o r Mustang istead of this..
Infiniti has very similar proportions, but it looks so much better, as a higher class brand

Camaro, Mustang, and Challenger all heavily incorporate retro designs so much much different than the Genesis.

I personally like both types of styling.

By the way, I think the Genesis Coupe has a much more attractive profile than the Infiniti G Coupe.

On our way to Charlotte, going around Jacksonville Florida, I passed a sensational looking coupe...I slowed to its speed, to try to figure out just what it was!! Lo and Behold, it was a Genesis Coupe.!! Absolutely beautiful...no idea what engine, but it DID have stick shift.

This car is a beauty.........who ever said they would take a mustang over this is NUTS!!! A mustang, only good in straight line, poorly built, still reminiscing of days of old. These north american car makers need to look forward not backwards. Something new and fresh. That is why they are in the pickle they are in. GM started to get it right look at the CTS-V, only problem is that it is too little too late.

If it looks like a Tiburon... by haterunflats

It may not be the replacement for the Tiburon, but we now know what the Tiburon design team has been working on. Exterior styling looks very similar, at least in the photos, and looking like a Tiburon is not a compliment.

and it was a '65, loved the car and still love the simple, sporty style. Ford has modernized the Stang and it looks good, but Hyundai has topped the already-sporty looking Tibby with this Genesis Coupe.

Hey, I read an article on the Genesis Coupe about 3 or 4 months ago in one of the car mags. They mentioned the Coupe, fairly-well equipped with the stick was gonna start at $19,995. Is this still true? And is that manual tranny a 5-speed or 6-speed? This car is hotter than a firecracker. That price is unbelievable, too, if true.

The only thing I'd be trying to figure out now if I wanted a Coupe was whether I wanted the Hyundai Coupe or the hot new Kia Koup coming out later this year. Both look awesome, just different than each other. I have a strong feeling that Kia's Koup will be priced very close to the Genesis Coupe.

We'll get to see the Kia Forte very soon at the upcoming Chicago Auto Show, which is be the sedan version to the upcoming Koup.

and the Koup concept was looking so good earlier. They were talking about a turbobooster in a 4-cyl motor for the Kia Koup, as I recall, too.

The selection of the 6-speed over the 5-speed rocks da house, too.

Great new sporty Coupe's from H/K!
