Comparison Test: 2009 Nissan 370Z vs. 2008 BMW 135i - The BMW 135i wasn't napping, though. On its second and fifth braking attempts, the Bavarian repeated silent and controlled stops from 60 mph of 108 feet. The Z-car has an advantage here in tire choice, but we also found that the BMW brake system makes it a little easier to jump on the pedal and still get response that is more linear and easier to modulate. I purchased a new 2009 Nissan 370Z on February 26, 2009. When I purchased the car, it was Winter time in Georgia. The first thing I noticed, while test driving the 370Z, was an OIL TEMPERATURE GUAGE mounted in the number one pod on the car's dash. I asked the General Manager at Cronic Nissan if there had been any reports, from owners, regarding the 370Z CAR's ENGINE TEMPERATURE rising above the 280 degrees mark? I was told that there had been no reports pertaining to the Car's ENGINE TEMPERATURE rising to 280 degrees. Well, I can tell you that my NEW NISSAN 370Z CAR can't be driven at speeds over 70 MPH, for a long period of time, two (2) hours or more, when the AMBIENT is above 95 degrees, without the car's ENGINE TEMPERATURE RISING TO 280 DEGREES! I've contacted NISSAN's CONSUMER AFFAIRS on NUMEROUS occasions, regarding the 370Z CAR's HIGH OIL TEMPERATURE. I advised NISSAN that I only have 520 miles on my 370Z Car, due to the Car's ENGINE OIL TEMPERATURE GUAGE indicating a OIL TEMPERATUR of over 250 degrees, when I drive the car approximately seven (7) miles, at an average speed of 45 MPH, and at an average of 3000 RPM'S. NISSAN knows the 370Z car needs an ENGINE OIL COOLER, because they now have an ENGINE OIL COOLER available for the CAR OWNER to purchase, and be installed by a NISSAN Dealer. However, NISSAN hasn't done a RECALL on the CAR. NISSAN wants the 370Z CAR OWNER to purchase the OIL COOLER, and have it installed by an authorized NISSAN DEALERSHIP, in order to maintain your NISSAN WARANY. All 370Z CAR OWNERS MUST CONTACT NISSAN's CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND REGISTER A COMPLAINT ABOUT THE 370Z's ABILITY TO OPERATE IN TEMPERATURES ABOVE 95F DEGREES, WITHOUT THE ENGINE's OIL TEMPERATURE RISING TO THE 280 DEGREE MARK. If NISSAN receives enough complaints, they might do a RECALL on the 370Z.

After reading some of the comments regarding engine overheating it really makes one wonder how some of these people treat their cars.(like drive the car approximately seven (7) miles, at an average speed of 45 MPH, and at an average of 3000 RPM'S.???) Wonder what gear would that be at that speed and RPM??? Or in excess of 70 mph for periods of two or more hours in 90+ degree weather, what state would that be in as it most likely exceeds all legal speed limits in the eastern US. There seems to be an over emphasis on the heating problem by a few extremists and it certainly doesn't alarm me since I have the 6 speed touring version (approx.7000 miles now) and have never seen temperatures rise above 220 or 230 on long Pennsylvania mountain grades in 80+ degree weather, on high speed interstate drives (70 or under) the oil temperature guage generally runs around 200 or so?????
