2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo MR vs. 2009 Pontiac G8 GXP - Consider for a moment that the G8 GXP is the most powerful Pontiac ever built, including all those Firebirds with halitosis-spewing poultry on their hoods. Don't burn your Burt Reynolds posters, though. This four-door sedan promises to continue the Trans Am's legacy of high performance. (more)

Fit and finish was good, but noticed several areas of where I thought would break down easily with wear. I think GM needs to work on their paint quality. I have noticed on most new GM cars, they swirl mark so easily, and are not too forgiving when you try to reverse the problem with wax. I think it relates to the clear coat they use. Because, I am the type to look at that too. Noticed most GM cars have bad swirl marks, even brand new. Though, I blame some on the dealers with the scrubbing the crap out of them, even though they just sit on the lot. I cringe when I see that, new paint and they swirl it all up. I am going to try next time to get a car right off the truck with the wrapper on, that way the dealer doesn't have a chance to detail anything. 09 Acura TSX or Accord. If I was going to stick with GM, I would probably get a G8. |

http://www.edmunds.com/new/2009/pontiac/g8/101117956/specs.html The car might be called a poor man's 'Vette. Notice its MSRP? That's quit a bit less than what the author of the "Lancer Evo MR vs G8 GXP" article predicted it would be. Anyway, I plan to test drive one this spring when they first arrive at my local dealership. I wonder if its exhaust note will be muted, like the G8 GT's is? |

But given those green propensities, I can't readily explain why I now lust over a four-door muscle V-8 with stick. Especially now as we're nearing peak oil. Must've been growing up idolizing a giant kid we all called "Jeep," who had a big bad V-8 (413 cu. in.) Plymouth Fury. |
