"SOAKY-TULIP, Tennessee (CNN) -- General Motors hasn't officially announced the end of Saturn, but in a restructuring plan submitted to Congress, the automaker said it would concentrate resources on four core brands -- Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick and GMC." Ok, the byline is really Soddy-Daisy, but those who live around there will get the inside joke. Saturn owners hope GM doesn't abandon them (CNN) |

Well, GM just announced that 2011 would be the last year of production for Saturn ; They gave the car that was to be the next generation Aura (Opel Insignia) to Buick who will market it as a 2010 LaCrosse. I have a 2007 Aura XR and guess what.........it has virtually NO trade-in value even though it only has 10,500 miles on it and 3 years left on the warranty !! Anybody want an Aura XR ???

2011 is the end of production unless they find a buyer or spin it off, which is highly unlikely, since they weren't making money on the division. Saturns did not have high resale values even when they were doing ok. Sorry you had to find out the hard way. |

Let the three form one European company and market their "Best for US" cars here under the Saturn name. They would have all of the Saturn dealerships (that stay afloat during the transition) with loyal Saturn followers. I believe this would help the European branch of the family and the domestic one. I would love to see the Vectra, XR8i and Astra come over as is, and bring the Diesel/Turbo-Diesel engines too. Unfortunately GM management and the stock holders are more interested in getting BailOut money than doing what has to be done to save GM and the US car companies.

Back in October of 2007, Saturn offered to buy back my 2007 Aura XR because of all the stir I was causing concerning the separating Rocker Panels. I refused saying that I liked the car too much to give it back. Instead I settled for a generous monetary compensation and kept the car. What a fool I was !!
