I have a 2003 Outlander, with 45,000 miles on the clock that has given me no trouble at all. Recently though (last couple of days) it has started shaking as I accelerate though the 40 to 45 mph range. The shakes are quite violent. If I keep accelerating over 45, or slow down below 40, it stops, but if I maintain a steady 40 to 45, the shakes carry on. I think it is a transmission problem, but I was wondering if anybody else has other ideas as to what it is or how to fix it?

Sounds more like front end or tires. Unless you mean more of a shudder or transmission slip. Hard to diagnose without driving it.
