I wonder if that is a fair and true comparison between the TL AWD and the G37 Journey, because the G37 is not AWD. Would you all please compare apple vs apple? I am interested in both cars but have not decided which one to buy or lease. I can use all the help in this area, thanks.

This was an apples-to-apples comparison - as between the most performance-oriented versions of the TL and G. It happens that Acura packaged that as an AWD model. Infiniti didn't. They can't build good new trannny and afraid of history 2001-2003 trannies recall. I had TL and accord before, wasn't happy at all.

Replying to: carlover33 (Jan 18, 2009 8:25 am) I disagree. I test drove both the G37 and Acura TL SH-AWD and I think the G37 handles better. I ended up getting the G37xS ( i.e. AWD with sport package). The Infiniti is a RWD based AWD system and the Acura is a FWD based AWD system and RWD cars almost always handle better thean FWD cars. There are a few other reasons why the G37x should handle better than the TL SH-AWD. The G37x is 200 pounds lighter than the TL SH-AWD and the G37 has a longer almost a 3 inch wheelbase but it's over 8 inches shorter length than the TL SH-AWD so there's less front/rear body overhang. The only thing in Acura's favor is that Acura's AWD system is more advanced than the one in the G37. The strange thing is that the length and width of the TL is almost the same as the Infiniti M, BMW 5 series, Lexus G and Mercedes E class even though it's priced to compete with the smaller entry level sedans from those luxury car manufacturers. That would have been more of an apples to apples comparison. For those who are leasing, a loaded Infiniti G37xS (i.e. premium/navigation/technology/sport packages) is much cheaper to lease than the Acura TL SH-AWD with tech package. However with the tech package in the Acura has more advanced features than the one in the G37. I'm a technology guy so it was hard for me to pass up on those extra features but the cost difference didn't justify them. I'm also debating whether to buy or lease ( i only drive 6k a year) plus i have a 2005 Infiniti coupe that i would be trading in ( only 22k miles...i love the car so much but i need more passenger room) Any thoughts?
