#4 of 70 2003 Chevy Trailblazer Speedomoter

I also have a 2003 chevy Trailblazer LTZ. I have only had it for 8 months and it has been one thing after another. I had only had it 1 week and the rear end went. I had to fight them to fix it under my warranty, but they finally did. Now my speedomoter is acting up. It (like many others) is acting as though 70 or even 120 is the 0. Sometimes it doesn't work at all. I ahve contacted Chevy about this and they said they will not fix it because my original factory warrany is up. They have recalled the speedomoter cluster's on Tahoe, Avalanche, and a few others also, but will not recall the Trailblazer. I have wriiten to the Better Business Bureau as advised by my dealership. I would like to advise anyone who is having this problem or knows anyone having this problem to also write to their BBB. The more of us that write the better our chances of getting it recalled. Please everyone take a minute to do this. Thank you.

The alt light would glow on my 2003 TB. Took it to the dealer several times to have it checked out. Everything always checked out OK. After bringing it in for the 3rd time they replaced the cluster and everything is fine.

Just to let everyone here know... I have also posted the same problem with my 2003 TB EXT LT.... $453.26 to repair at my dealer... Of course GM was not willing to offer any assistance. There is a more recent post open regarding the speedometer that has more people and is the same issue.

trailvoy .com has the fix for this, it requires some soldering. Common problem that Chevy knows about and has a lawsuit against them for most of their vehicles except for the trailblazer and envoy...go figure. Your problem is the stepper motors located on the back of the instrument cluster. Each gauge has a little motor connected to it and they recommend replacing all 6 motors when you do the fix because more than likely they are all going to go eventually. All of my gauges are failing except for the speedo. I had brought the truck to a chevy dealer and they didnt know what was wrong, they did not have an answer except to replace the instrument cluster for $400. You can buy the stepper motors from ebay for around $36 a set or find a mechanic locally that can rebuild it. There are guys on ebay that offer a rebuild service for around $70 but you have to mail them your cluster and then get it back after the fix.
#11 of 70 05 Trailblazer cluster repair

My speedometer has gone out, the temp gauge was reading low, fuel on empty. I went to the local dealer about it no recall on 05 Trailblazer, but on everything else. They gave me a price of $ 611.00....NO WAY!!. I found on Ebay - http://stores.ebay.com/GM-Cluster-Repair
I removed my cluster and dash trim including light switch and 4x4 selector. shipped it out on Monday Fedex, got it back on Friday. cost was about $90.00 including shipping both ways. they clean it, replace all motors and calibrate all gauges( which is important). I was able to drive my vehicle without any problems, even the automatic headlights, without the switch connected.
To me, this worked very well!
