A dealer in Tampa is offering to sell me a Corolla S with sunroof, sport package, carpet floor mats, satellite radio, and window tinting for $19,200 OTD. Is this a good deal?

I just purchased a LE w/cruise, remote door locks, mats and the heated mirror pkg,,,pretty standard LE. MSRP 18,314. I paid 13,850 plus doc fees of 55. Your tax and Lic will vary from county to county. This was an ad in the local paper, but they gave us the choice of color, as long as the MSRP was 18,314. Toyota of San Diego was the dealer, Van was the "Internet sales person". No/low pressure through the deal.

I've been looking in the SD area and the best deal had been 14,995.
Note: all these prices reflect the 1500 rebate being used against the price.

Finally got my car! I was wrong about the price before, it ended up being approx $16,800 OTD. This was for a 2009 Corolla LE CK CL EM KE LE SR CF, with body moulding on the doors and a rear spoiler. I bought from Minh Toyota of Huntington Beach, he is an internet/fleet manager there. I would highly recommend dealing with him, you will get straight answers unlike some other internet salesmen who don't want to give you an actual price quote until you come in, and then spend 10 minutes telling you all the benefits of leasing and none of the drawbacks (yearly mileage cap, can't modify car, etc).

By the way, Toyota is currently offering $400 instant cash rebate for college grads! (Must have graduated in the last two years.) All the salesmen are keeping this one quiet, I found out through a friend.

Sounds like you got a great deal. Enjoy your new car in good health. I can't wait to get my new Corolla. But I have to wait until I can settle with an insurance company. Some Yellow Cab driver caused another car to smash into the rear end of my '05 Camry while it was parked outside a restaurant. Caused $7200 - $9300 in damages and bent the frame. The insurance wants to repair the Camry instead of totalling it.

It is impossible to tell with the information you have given, as sales tax rates vary along with title and license fees from location to location. You can compare your buying experience with others by setting forth the base price of the vehicle plus options and destination charge.

Now why in the world would they keep the "college graduate rebate" quiet if they want to sell cars?

Originally, the Base Price for the Corolla S with the options of sports package, sunroof, carpet floormats, XM Radio, and Window tint was 21,387. Before taxes, rebates, etc, the car's subtotal came to $19,041.17. OTD was $18,300 after $2000 in rebates. Now for the really frustrating part. I purchased the vehicle Friday night and thought my deal was great. The next morning I received an email from another dealer I had visited, offering the same vehicle for $17,576 OTD. I had been shoping for this car for 8 days before purchasing. Sometimes it pays to wait just a little longer.

I just bought an LE with Cruise, remote entry, and the cold weather options for $16,500 plus tax in Northern Ohio. The rebate more than covered the taxes and fees.
