I am shopping for a 2009 Corolla LE with options CF, CK, CL, EM, CV, FE, KE, VS in southern Wisconsin. Ignoring the $1000 rebate that Toyota is offering on the Corolla right now, and also ignoring other fees and taxes (all itemized quotes I have received from dealerships are consistent in these regards), I have collected the following information: Toyota MSRP $18,804 Toyota dealer invoice $17,228 Edmunds.com dealer invoice (excludes ad fee) $16,920 Edmunds.com TMV $18,337 quotes from seven dealerships range from $17,128 to $16,891 ($100 to $337 below invoice) quote from eighth dealership $16,427 ($801 below invoice) The eighth quote comes from a high volume dealership located 80 miles away (some of the other seven are not small either). High volume means more wiggle room, but the eighth dealership's price seems out of line with the others that I am curious why it is so desperate for my business. Their salesman called this morning to lower the price by another $100, from $701 to $801 below invoice, after I sat on the original offer for almost a week, and offered to deliver half-way between the two cities (I did not agree to this, not having seen or picked the vehicle). Even if there is a sales quota bonus from Toyota, I doubt that he needs to sell this one car at such a low price to an out-of-town customer just to meet quota. So I am wondering whether this low price might be a red flag of some sort that I should consider more carefully as I weight the net $400+ savings against the risk of having to deal with a dealership 80 miles away if a problem arises with the vehicle, which would be a great inconvenience for me. I am not asking anyone to decide for me, just wish to know whether this might too low that it should raise concerns? Thanks for any feedback. |

On Wednesday evening it was announced that the cash rebate on the Corolla is now $1500 valid until Monday 02/02. The 0%-financing offer did not get extended beyond 01/07; it is now 2.9%/36 months, 3.9%/48 months, 4.9%/60 months.

I have picked up Corolla LE with Keyless entry, silly floor mats, lifetime Powertrain Warranty for 16200 OTD in TampaBay FL. Could have a dealer gone lower?

Well, I bought a 09 le from performance toyota in memphis for 15,300. That is all fees except for the sales tax that I will pay in arkansas to tag it. List was 18554, options were, cruise -ev 6cdchanger, ck heated mirrors, keyless entry, and mats. The dealer lost a lot of money but they let me have it after I almost left several times. |
