What do you think? by uhuhbigfan

Two different cars and there is a difference in their options. Let me know which you think is the better deal. Color (Black), 4 cyl., FWD.

Option A- Has tan cloth seats that are going to have leather put on them after market. The car has the comfort and covenience package. I believe with this option, because the leather is after market the front passenger seat is not power or heated. MSRP is 28,944, leather, taxes, title, doc fee, processing take price to 30343. Offered to us out the door at 28000.

Option B- Same vehicle except leather comes with this so passenger seat is power and heated. MSRP is 30039. Dealer claimed to give invoice pricing of 27318, then add doc fee of 250 title 25.50 and tax of 2136.52 giving an OTD price of 29730.02.

Are these good deals? Which one would you pick? We negotiated with A pretty heavily. B we didn't really negotiate too much with. Any help would be appreciated.

I see demos and rentals as hard miles and would never buy one. On demos the discount has never been high enough to reel me in. The dealers always have this absurd notion that the car is almost the same as new. You are correct that if the shoe was on the other foot and you were trading in a 3K mile car the dealer would low ball you as having a used car, yet it would be a more desirable car imo than a demo.

I recently looked at brand new (10 miles) left over 2008 loaded Avalon in the showroom where the dealer wanted the same money for it as a new 2009. They claim they simply can't sell it for under invoice. Their strategy has been (and remains) to wait for some sucker and uninformed buyer. I said it should be selling for at least 10% under what a comparable 2009 would sell for. They laughed.

I am not in the car sales business (thank God for small favors..lol), but I can appreciate what the dealers are doing (I don't like it either and will never buy a leftover car). You must realize that the car is owned by the dealer and if it does not sell he "eats" it....In my opinion knowing or having an idea on how the dealers operate will give us consumers an advantage. And what I mean by this is that if we are well informed we will be able to identify a good deal or better yet a fair deal, we will be able to recognize it and don't pass it up thinking that we can do better somewhere else.
The dealers, from what I expirienced, as well as other buyers, the dealers buy your car for wholesale price and resell it as a retail price, thus the profit and this profit will be as much as they can get based on many factors as we all know.
My advise, stay away from demos since those vehicles will be an unknown and the savings are minimal at best. You will be buying a used car.
Good luck to you...and enjoy a new Venza..

Hi,
I am planning to test drive the Venza V6 tonight. I live in Edison NJ and I am interested to know if any one bought a Venza from nearby dealers and the final price you paid ? I can use it as a bargain if you can give me the dealership details.
Thank you in advance. Right now I am leaning towards FWD 3.5L 6cyl 6A with the following options
LS,CQ,EJ. The invoice price is coming for around 28,956 and TMV is around 29,815. Which price I should start my bargain ? Last time I am in the market for car is in 2000.
Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.

Hey sq1974,
I can't tell you anything about NJ dealers, but you could use www.fitzmall.com (in Gaithersburg, MD) to find their online prices and use that for bargaining. They are currently offering similar Venzas for $200-$300 BELOW invoice. If your local dealer won't get close to the fitzmall price, it's only a 3½ hour drive to Maryland. You can pick up your new Venza and visit Washington DC while you are in the area. Then you'll have a nice drive back up I-95 in your new car. Good luck.

I read your post and I was wondering if anyone outside of MD had bought a car from Fitz Automall...I wonder if they played any old usual games that car sales people practice (ie: vehicle not available as of this morning, wrong price offered, mistake on the website etc). My biggest concern has been that since I am buying cash (no financing) and this requieres to bring a bank check made to the dealer, insurance card etc..that after either flying in or driving 4 hours (plus another 4 hours back) I find any "surprises" that may change the price and then the experience will cost me time and money and come home empty handed..just with the agravation.
How reliable are they at Fitzautomall...

svifan2,
I agree, there is some risk dealing with an out-of-state dealer via Internet or phone. So I would get a definitive contract in writing, including pricing, VIN number, etc. before traveling to fitzmall or any other dealer. I think if you actually speak to the salesperson and develop somewhat of a relationship with them, they are not likely to play games with you. I did a search on this forum and found several folks used fitzmall for their Venza purchase: their usernames are "jimmy2x" "sealbeach_la" and "prasadperi." Maybe they can give you some direct advice. I would have purchased my Venza from fitzmall, but they didn't have my exact car (color and options) in stock and another dealer did and they also met the fitzmall price.

Yours sound like good advise, but about the sales person...well you can trust them as far as you can yhrow the...lol....little story about the "business"...recently I took my son to a Ford dealer (I knew the sale manager and owner for a while)..they located the car foe my son in NYC and were assured that the car will be in NJ (our dealer) on Monday am, my son even got the vin#..I told my son not get insurance card until the call him on Monday and confirm that the car was at the dealer here in NJ...but no...young people are impulsive so he went ahead an got the insurance card...guess what the car in NYC was sold by the dealer Saturday night and the car never arrived...so they went located another one in PA...that is how the business works....so I guess if I go to Fitz I will have to get used to the idea that the Venza could be sold right underneath me...and come home with my bank check and loose $50 fee and the time and gas to get there and back..
Good luck with your Venza...

Glad to see I popped up in a search . I live in PA and bought my 4Runner from Fitzmall in Gaithersburg. We communicated via phone, e-mail, and fax. There was no BS (except for agreeing that I would listen to the extended warranty, rust, dust, mop & glo stuff for a max of 10 minutes). They had exactly the vehicle that I wanted and it was precisely as advertised. I saved about $1700 over the best price I could get in the Bucks County area including the one-way rental to MD. BTW, I gave them a deposit via VISA over the phone (don't remember how much, but no more than $300) to avoid the car being sold out from under me.

Easiest buy I ever did.
