Thanks for the advice. I'm keeping the original cap with the vehicle. We've now driven about 2,000 miles with the Stant locking cap installed with no problem; but it may trip an error message later on. The Stant has a 12mo replacement or refund warranty.

Have now gone 6,000 miles with the Stant locking gas cap installed with no problem, other than making sure the lock has some de-icer in its tumbers thru winter months, otherwise have to use a heat gun to get the cap off on cold mornings (not pleasant). I keep the original cap in the emergency tool kit for when needed.
