#1 of 4 Rocker panel rust by tlcthis

I would like to hear from others that might have/had this problem. I noticed a few years back what looked like a piece of tape (located right behind the drivers side slider door lower right bottom) pealing off.
Sure wish I would have done something then now we have a rust hole issue in that location. I was told it looks like it rusted from the inside out???
Is there a manufactured replacement part for this location? If so where do I get one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 2000 montana and I am getting bubbles under the paint on the front of my hood. This is a aluminum hood I was told that gm uses steel clips to mount the plastic grill to the hood and this causes the problem and to fix this from spreading I will have to get the hood stripped and have an epoxy coating applied then re painted Has anybody else had this problem and if so how did they fix it. I was told it would cost about $450 to do.

If you take your van to several different auto body shops, many of them can recommend a short term and long term solution (with financial estimates). Being a 9 year old van (and most common vehicles only last 10-13 years), perhaps only a "short term" repair is needed? Especially if its holding the grill and hood together.

Also... Do compare repair cost against "increase value" on trade in. If you spend $450 to fix it, will you get an additional $450 if traded in the next day? If one only gets an additional $50 from this repair (upon trade in), then math wise, fixing this repair isn't work it. Unless, the repair is needed to hold the grill and hood together.

Hope this helps as well...

I had a 2000 Montana and when I bought it it had no bubbles on the hood. After a year when the van was 4 years old I to noticed bubbles on the hood. I didn't do anything with it as the bealer said that it past the waranty period. It will not rust on but it look like crap.
