Please let me know if you have had a tie rod end separate. I have a 2000 windstar and the right front tie rod separated. I work at an auto repair shop and we replace tie rod ends on many different vehicles, not just Fords. It's a wearable item like everything else on the vehicle. We check our customer's during oil changes, just to make sure they are safe going down the road. You can feel a tie rod end getting loose before it separates.
