Would you please give an update? I believe I'm experiencing the same issue and have an appt. with the dealer. Did you determine the cause and fix?

I just located this thread describing what appears to be the very same issue with a Hyundai. http://www.hyundai-forums.com/index.php?showtopic=7643&st=0
In that case, the transmission was the culprit.

Have them look at the Exhaust Heat Shield. Mine was coming loose and causing a severe whine on fast acceleration at 3000 rpm.

My 2008 was built in Sept. 2007. The only high pitched sound is when the Blizzaks are mounted for the winter season.
