So I've had the car for about a month now and I really like it. I'm getting around 28 MPG with the automatic which isn't that bad. I got the Bluetooth feature and it's really handy to have since I tend to keep my phone in a pocket and sometimes miss calls. Much more useful than the spoiler which was on a different car that the dealer had. It drives pretty nicely unless I'm on a very bumpy road, in which case I definitely feel the bumps. There are some reviews which describe it as jarring and I wouldn't disagree.
 
The one feature they really forgot to include was a mute button for the radio on the steering wheel. It's a real pain having to turn down the radio when a call comes in (or when I try to make a call) since the Bluetooth is voice activated (and it gets really ugly when my GPS decides to speak). My Mazda6 had this. I also miss the climate control on that car so I don't have cold air blowing on me until the engine warms up, but I understand that's generally reserved for more expensive cars. I'm enjoying the XM a lot more than I thought, I may even renew it if I can get a good deal. Leather seats might have been nice but given that I'm not impressed with the quality of the leather on the steering wheel, it's just as well that they didn't use it on the seats. I've been able to fit a bunch of stuff in the trunk, it's probably smaller than my Mazda6 hatchback but it will be fine for most things.
 
What really surprises me is that I have yet to see another of these on the road. I see plenty of Matrix's and Fits so it's not like people don't like the form factor. I feel like when I got my Elantra GT back in 2001, and it had just come out and were hard to get. But this car has been out for a while so I'm really surprised I'm not seeing them. I guess it's Hyundai's best kept secret.

I bought a new black/black ET SE 2 weeks ago and I'm delighted with the car. For the money you can't beat the value. I'm getting about 25 MPG general driving at 28 MPH to work, etc. and on the hwy i did 29 MPG averaging about 65 MPH. Ride is firm and a bit bouncy, specially with a lot of pot holes in NJ after many snowstorms, but overall I prefer a firmer ride to a soft cushy ride.
I have one issue I wanted to get a feedback on and that is heated seats. Mine work great with 2 lights on - the max. setting, but with one light on the lower setting I can hardly feel any heat. I made sure that I do not have a coat on, but still no warmth at all. I'm thinking of mentioning it it to the dealer during my 1,000 mile check up.
My dealer was great to deal with. Very straight forward and helpful, without the usual BS that car sales people are deservedly known for.
I highly recommend the car: GLS for softer ride and SE for a firmer ride lovers.
You cannot beat the warranty and road side assistance, especially now with all these recalls.

I had Nokian on my Saab 9000 CS several years ago and they were excellent. The car drove poorly in snow with regular all season tires, but with Nokians it was a world of difference. This fact is true with all cars: snows are much better than all season and even better than summer tires.
$100 per pressure sensor is too much money. I would rather drive w/o them during the winter on new rims with dedicated snows.

I don't have heated seats or a roof rack. Would love to know where you bought it. We got both our Elantra's from Brad Benson's and theu were awful to work with. I did get a great price at the time on the Touring. It had just been out two weeks, and I got it for essentially $16,000 OTD ($13,000 trade on my 2004 Toyota Sienna Ltd and $3,000). I probably cound have gotten $1,000 or $2,000 more selling the Sienna privately, but I didn't want to go through the hassle of a private sale. I walked into the dealer, expecting just to test drive it, and 8 hours later (yes, 8 hours because of all their haggling and making me wait in between price changes) I emptied out my Sienna and left with my touring.
If I had to choose between my 2008 Elantra SE (which is now in the body shop because my dear twenty year old daughter hit a pole at college during a snow storm and did $3,500 worth of damage to the car) and the Touring, I would pick the Elantra SE. I guess I'm more of a cushy, quiet ride driver. My rental car now is a 2010 Toyota Corolla and I can't say I feel totally safe driving it. Before purchasing my Hyundais, we were always a Toyota only family.

I bought mine at Town Hyundai in Denville. I live 40 min south of there but it was worth it. No hassle and a decent price. Potholes can do it to any car and at least Hyundais parts are not as expensive as some of other cars' parts. I have Acura TL and that one has a firmer ride than ET SE and to be honest, I enjoy the ET better overall: it's utility, driving position, gas mileage, etc. I'll give it to my son soon...

There are 4 Hyundai dealers within a 30 mile radius here in Oklahoma City metro, 3 of which are owned by Automax. Drive a little further and there's a 5th Hyundai dealer in Stillwater, Oklahoma owned by ex-football star Barry Sanders.

Help, I own and 2009 SE touring with 17" with 6k miles and when I looked at my front tires the other day, the inside tread is very low, more on the drivers side. About 1/32 at the very edge, and then gradually more tread toward the outside edge. I know front tires wear faster then the rear, but it seems especially fast. I took the car to the dealership and they said a tire rotation is due and did a alignment and said it checks out fine. I'm worried that even with rotating tires, the next time around, those same tires come back up front and within another 5-8k, they are going to be shot.

There are a few things you can check (feel) as to the alignment. Does the car pull to one side on the highway? Does it go straight while you applied brakes at speed? Front wheel drive cars do make the front tires wear faster as front tires bear all the weight while also do the steering while making turns. Tire rotation is a must for such cars. If the dealer checked the alignment and considered it within specification, you may not have to worry about it. Just for you to know, the tires on the touring are just mid-quality, so you may want to replace them after a while. Replace them with better tires will vastly improve its handling.
Hyundai designed the touring in Europe, thus with emphasis on handling, not living room type of comfort as most cars in its class.

I got an envelope in the mail today from Hyundai and was pleasantly surprised to find a $50 Visa Debit card inside as thanks for my recent purchase. Have others received this? I bought my car in January.
