I have 74 fj40 gas and here in Costa Rica we have ones a year a inspection for safety and when I went they said that my motor number was tampered with I also have a 72 and 79 fj40. I need some kind of info on how the motors were stamped so I can show then why all of the letters and numbers are a little different on the motor.

The vehicle identification number (VIN) should be stamped on the engine block but also on a small metal tag on your dashboard visible through the windshield and on your trasmission as well. Have all of those identifieers been tampered with? How did the vehicle pass previous inspections?
If all of those numbers have been mutilated or restamped then it will be very difficult to determine the proper identification of the vehicle. You'll have to find an expert who may be able to "lift" the numbers by a complicated technical procedure involving etching and microscopy. Good luck!
