By Halloween, the 2008 Infiniti G35 sedan will be in costume. And though Infiniti's sport sedan won't be haunted by Nismo or Autech, there might still be an opportunity to get scared and choke on candy corn. That has to be one of the most singularly ignorant statements I've read on one of these Edmund's boards....and that's saying something. The G35/G37 are based on a totally different rear-wheel-drive platform than the Altima. They are more akin to the Z-car. Replying to: artisivey (Oct 19, 2008 2:11 pm) Dynamically, the G37 and the Altima are nothing alike. The Altima is fine if all you want is a sporty front-drive sedan or coupe. But for someone wanting a true rear-drive experience, the Altima is no substitute for the G.

These cars are rebadged Altimas. Sure, they're practically identical since one of them is only a full-second faster from 0-60 and requires 20 less ft to stop from 60-0 ft.

The Infiniti shares the same basic platform as the 350/370Z and many of those parts are interchangable (engine, suspension). I've owned both a VQ-engined Maxima and a G35 Infiniti Sedan and on the road they are completely different cars. The Maxima/Altima is a capable FWD sedan but inherits all the performance issues that FWD sedans have. The Infiniti on the other hand can be driven like a sports car if you desire, and is capable of power-on tail-out corner drifting in the right hands. No it's not really designed for that as it is on the heavy side, but the chassis is more than capable. I Auto-crossed my Infiniti for 1 1/2 years and everyone was very impressed with how capable it was, keeping pace with BMW M3's and Corvettes, trophying almost every time.

...what are your experiences with the braking performance of your g35s sedan? i'm considering a 2008 g35s 6mt sedan but the 2009 model has bigger rotors and better brakes. do you think its worth paying more for the 09 because of the brake upgrade? thanks. i owned an 05 v6 altima and an 05 fx35...the altima was very quick but i liked the balance and handling of the fx35 much more.
