Replying to: pmc4 (Oct 04, 2008 1:54 pm) pmc4, I played this game since March (when every stocks were priced higher $60) and I know how the game works to win the prize. Well I am sure most of us do now. You just have to trade a lot, especially when the market is volatile like what happened during the first 2 days of month. I think it is unfortunate that pmc4 was not there with us in old days where it took more than 900% to win monthly prizes. At least networkguy and bg96 were big runner-up and made me stay up until 3~4AM CST to make sure I win. Yes it impacted my work performance review. Oh last thing, if I am cheating, do worry the second place will win the prize. I think it happened before where the monthly winner was found cheating and second place got the prize. |

Replying to: chung (Oct 04, 2008 2:21 pm) " I requested Mike to get rid off the player "cchung" about 3~4 months ago because his/her id sounds like me." Why would you want to get rid of someone just because there's a similar ID? And why be so proactive about getting rid of him? I'm thinking that since you both presumably don't know each other and aren't trading with each other, there would be no concerns. What's also disturbing was this quote of yours I found on the other thread: "To be honest, I do not see a point at arguing if a player is cheating or not without an evidence. I played this game longer than many remaining active players and read the rules word by word more than once. I saw many different kind of cheaters and most of time Mike caught them at the end of month before prizes were sent. So let's not worry too much and concentrate on trading." First of all, why would someone scour through the rulebook "more than once" if he's not looking specifically for a loophole of some kind? Also, why are you downplaying the importance of identifying potential cheats in this second quote of yours, but being adamant about getting rid of an ID and a potential cheat that look like your ID in the first quote? Why the sudden change of heart? Again, I'm not accusing you of anything, Chung. It's just that the posting seems a little contradictory, and I'm eager to hear what you have to say on the matter, that's all. And if it's any consolation, I lost a bundle in the real markets myself. Thanks, GWB. Your incompetence and failed policies made Main Street broke!

Replying to: pmc4 (Oct 04, 2008 6:40 pm) Because other players brought First of all, why would someone scour through the rulebook "more than once" if he's not looking specifically for a loophole of some kind? Many players did not read the rule book before they played and for example (sorry to bring this up again) audisguy did not fully understood the rules. The player must follow the rules if he/she wants to win the prize and I recommend you should read the rules as well until you have full understanding. The reason I read more than once is because there were some vague terms that many players were not sure how to interpret them. These were brought be in past posts in the forum and Mike clarified them. Also, why are you downplaying the importance of identifying potential cheats in this second quote of yours, but being adamant about getting rid of an ID and a potential cheat that look like your ID in the first quote? Why the sudden change of heart? Getting rid of the "cchung" was brought up 4 months ago, decisions were made and I moved on. Since then, I thought identifying potential cheaters is not my job, but Mike's job. We, as players should be playing game rather than trying to find who is cheating or not. We should give Mike information regarding suspicious activities since he only monitors few times a day. (Yes, Mike's job is more than just watching CSX 8 hours a day) There is no sudden change of heart, the two topics occurred in two different time period. As closing comment, I was a little bit irritated you called me a "new account" player. I achieved some extraordinary gains in the past (gave up many things to do that and yes I know it is a little bit pathetic) and put a lot of efforts on improving CSX. Because of that, my responses to your posts could have been, let me say, aggressive and immature. Since you did not know that I played this game in the past, I understand why you might assumed that I am a new player, but this is just how I felt. From now on, I will no longer comment to your "not accusing but seems weird" posts. If you want "not accuse but want to let everyone know that it seems weird that Chung has ridiculous gains and Mike should check his IP and trading activities to make sure Chung does not have multi-accounts" to Mike, be my guest. I have done it in the past to other innocent players as well (sorry bg96, your 230% gain on non-IPO day just did not make any senses to me). Also feel free to suggest improvements to the game, we, many players suggested many changes and Mike actually made those things happened. At the end of day, this is just a game and I hope you enjoy it as a game. Although the monthly prizes might make it a little bit difficult. PS>> I also lost tens of thousand dollars in the stock market and more in my housing price. But wait, my property taxes are still going up though, how does that happen?

It does make sense his % gain this month cause he started with lower net worth. This makes you improve ur % gain faster with big number. I actually dumped a lot on 8/31 before starting September one. I had no time to lower than 1M since I started to dump around 11:50 pm PST. If I started at .5M last month, I could get more % up. Right now his % is 99%, but it's only $.34M which is still very small profit $. If anybody wants to win, do the right IPO. It's better than cheating. You can make 100% or more in 2 min. |

Replying to: chung (Oct 04, 2008 9:11 pm) And he's right, it's my job to monitor user accounts (although I do appreciate the heads up from you guys on suspicious activity). I will be correcting several user accounts this week. We delayed it, because we're busy dealing with correcting all accounts based on the retired stocks from last month. Best, Mike CSX Game Supervisor
