I'll agree that it's easier for someone with a new account to rise higher on the leaderboard faster, since it takes less CSX dollars to increase the new account's percentage. But what we're seeing with Chung is a rise of over 50% in just one day, and it has been somewhat incremental. The only way this could have been achieved was through 'targeted buying', where the participant (Chung, in this case) was at the right place and at the right time for each buy and short sell in order to see the 50% gain. It is possible that he short sold the Pontiac G8 this morning when it shot up to some $40 and just happened to be the guy who bought the Tiguan this afternoon when it went down to $8, but the probabilities of this happening seems somewhat unbelievable. I doubt he had anything to do with the G8 this morning, because it was sitting at $37.37 for a very long time (over five minutes). He--like me--probably just shorted it when it popped up. Still, though, the Tiguan behavior today looked awfully suspicious, and bore all the trademark signs of selling from one account and rapidly buying from another. A 50% gain is doable over a couple days, but over a single afternoon? |

Replying to: pmc4 (Oct 02, 2008 6:07 pm)  )you would know what I am capable of achieve. 50% in a volatile day like yesterday and today is very doable. Especially accounting my starting wealth is low. I started this month just under $400K, so 50% growth is only 200K. You, in order hand gained about 400K today but the percentage is lower because you started the month with higher wealth. Also being in front of the computer 12 hours or so, which my job requires me to do so helps a lot for day trading. Anyways, Mike is always more than welcome to take a look into my account. I made about 75 trades today so far.
