2010 Acura TL SH-AWD 6MT First Drive - First Impressions: Not since the NSX has Acura had such a focused tool poised to shatter expensive glass ceilings. Problem is, the other guys have significantly upgraded models in the pipeline, too. (more)

| If only they could have made the car actually look good... or at least decent. Why does it have to look so UGLY??? Please hire some new designers and stop trying to create this new recognizable Acura look that is simply awful. This performance with an attractive exterior would be a real winner. I just couldn't look at this thing everyday without wanting to get out a sledgehammer... | |

They say the car is great around corners, so i'd like to see a comparison test between the 2010 TL when it comes out and the EVO + STI which are both AWD cars meant to take their competition in the corners and not the drag strips. -The new TL is ugly though |

| What's odd is that the six year old b6/b7 platform S4 outpaced the much newer BMW. While I know the S4 is good (I have one) I haven't read a single article comparing the 335/S4 with this same conclusion. As for the ugly TL listing first on this list, it might just indicate the integrity of this test than the virtues of the cars. But I do suppose that Honda had very good benchmarks that they knew they had to beat. | |

Perhaps the reason the BMW did not do better is that they used a car that has the latest ECU software update from BMW. It seems that the new software actually takes away the low end torque with a sort of laggish feel when you hit the gas. The power comes on but not until around 3000rpm, where it used to be around 1400rpm. That would explain the comment the test driver made about the car. BMW is actually putting this updated software in the new 3 cars that are in the showrooms and the ones that people already own, without their approval. |

| Honda's focus on technology has really paid off, the SH-AWD is amazing and is ahead of the competitors' all wheel drive systems. However, this car is just too ugly for me to consider. There is way too much chrome, which makes it look tacky and cheap (purely subjective). I was very surprised of the Audi's performance though, and the place that the BMW received in this small comparison. | |

This car seems amazing, and I really like the pictures of the interior. I would love to drive it, but I just wouldn't want to be seen in it. It is a truly ugly automobile. It might handle fantastically, but for 99% of the people who might buy it, the only time they will experience this car at its limit is if something has gone terribly wrong. How many Acura TL drivers take their car to a track to do hot laps? Other than journalists that test cars, it may not have ever happened before. In this class of automobile, looks are more important. Sadly, Acura has given this baby a face that would make its mother cry at night. I am the target demographic for this car. I drive a BMW 3 series, have owned Acura's before, and am looking to buy again in the next year or so. I like sporty sedans and the enhanced driving performance they offer, but I have never found myself racing an Audi on a twisty mountain road, nor have I drag raced a Mercedes for pink slips on a Saturday night. A big part of my satisfaction with my BMW is when a pretty blond 10 years younger than me walks by and says "Nice car." This Acura will not do that. It may attract men in lab coats with slide rules in their pockets who may approach me and wax on poetically about its ability to carve a perfect apex. No thanks, I'll pass.

Today, I went to the Acura Dealer to have my CL-S looked at. During that time, I had the chance to see this new TL up close and personal. The pictures make it look over worked and over done. I love Acura, and I did have mixed feelings about the car and it's looks. After looking inside, and walking around the car, you have to admit it's really nice. They left the remote key inside it, so I was able to demo the features as well. Check it out for yourself, you might have a change of heart. The only thing that I don't agree with is this: they always put the addendum on the car with all the "extras". This was a 2009 TL TECH for 38K. After all the dealer extra's (19" wheels, trunk tray, sport shift knob) the car was like 45K! What the hell is that all about. When you think about it, it is a nice price comparing it to an equally stocked BMW or Lexus, but damn... I plan on holding on to the CL-S until my birthday b/c I really want to see the drive the SH-AWD. Good luck to those that are interested in it, b/c overall it's not as bad as it appears.

Replying to: duke84 (Sep 27, 2008 5:33 am) With the RL moving upstream (take on the S, 7series), the TL is really geared towards the 5 series, E class sedans. This is why you will see prices in the $40k range. Acura is serious about performance. Now where is the 400HP V8 !

| IF it didnt look like the last generation altima or maxima i would like it | |
So on a Honda owned track, the Honda product won? What are the chances of that? %100?
