Navigation DVD Upgrade by southbay1

I'm contemplating upgrading the Navigation DVD on my 2004 Honda Pilot. I understand from the Honda Navi website (https://store.alpine-usa.com/Hondadvdsales/naviorder.php) and the good people at Alpine that the new versions have more roads and points of interest but what I'm wondering is if the new DVD provides better routing guidance.

I'm continually amazed with the frequency of indirect and generally bizarre routes recommended by the Navi (i.e., it will tell me to take random side streets regardless of whether I ask for the quickest route or the most direct route). It's especially bad when compared to the quality of directions provided by my '06 Infiniti. Does anyone know if the new Navi DVD is better at telling me how to get from Point A to B?

The Alpine site usually provides info on the updates from the previous version to the one you are interested in, if it shows mapping update only, I don't think the routing will see any improvement, I have seen some versions indicate software update as well, you may check and see. FWIIW, my 06 Pilot Navi works great.
