I have a 2000 Bonneville SE with an a/c prob. Everything seems to be in working order, but only warm air comes from the vents. System is charged, condenser kicks on, lines get cold, the fan blows, but no cold air... It is a dual climate control system, not digital. Any advice appreciated.

Replying to: flutterbytears (Sep 11, 2008 2:51 pm) How do you know the system is charged? I have read several where the problem is that the system is low on freon and the passenger side gets cooled air but the driver gets warm air. The design of the evaporator has the part cooled by a partial charge supplying air to the passenger portion fo the air ducts. One person even told me they had a charge, but when they completely checked the system, the freon was low; they were checking only the low side pressures. Occasionally people have an actuator motor (electric) that fails and they can't adjust the tempterature. The little motors require removing a sound deadening panel under the dash so you can see the motors. Then move the controls to see if the motors move the links to the vanes inside the heater/AC box. The one above the driver's foot area, if I recall, is the one giving the most trouble. You say the system is dual control but not digital. I thought all the dual controls were digital temp readout. They are C67 and CJ2 but I don't recall which is which. You'll find that code on the top of the cover over the space tire under the floor mat in the trunk. It lists a bunch of option codes for the car. |
