Recently picked up the car and have some questions. I had a 87, 740 wagon previously also. Anyway, the car has 102K miles on it and is well optioned. The heat shield that covers the spare tire well is loose and rattling, the studs are badly rusted...any thoughts? Also there is a periodic click coming from the left front wheel. It sounds like a CV joint type noise but doesn't seem to act that way. It makes the noise going straight and doesn't change when I turn, I can't make it do it by turning but it comes and goes. Anything else to look out for? Do I need to do the timing belt yet? Is it a diy job or for a shop? Thanks!
