The weird thing is with it either burning (no sign of this whatsoever other than disappearing oil) I see no smoke, smell nothing...and it's burning oil real severely. I think it's that PCV oil sludge issue, but I can't prove it since they said it was fairly clean.   I'm looking at an 07 RX350....but it's pretty pricey. I'm still debating what to do..I wanted to hang onto the 2002 for a while longer, but it's looking like that may not be an option. I'm real interested to see what the 2nd opinion mechanic says Tuesday when he calls back. I don't want to finance more than 20k or so... Replying to: tidester (Aug 30, 2008 12:15 pm) Will do...I've been reading on here about the trans problems too. Between this sludge problem and the trannys...older RX's can really turn out to be a huge money pit.   If I hear back Tuesday, I'll let you guys know what the 2nd mechanic says. I'm afraid I get this thing fixed and either it happens again or the trans goes out.   Are the 330's and 350's much better? It sounds like it, but I want to make sure before buying. I'm talking to one dealer on a 07 RX350 that seems like a good deal....after Tuesday I'll make a decision one way or the other. Man...Lexus is a nice ride, but I thought the quality control was much better (at least back when I got the 2002 at the end of 2004). Are the RX350's worth it?
