Uhhhh ....interesting response to the orginal post explorerx4. The purpose of this website is to provide all information, the good and the bad. Let me guess ... car salesman?

Thank you original poster for the pertinent information. Hopefully this is not a recurring problem. Glad that you were safely able to handle that situation. Bet you were rather busy the first week after the accident dealing with the situation.

The Ford Edge came to my attention while car shopping. Have to say that I wasn't much focused on a Ford -- I have the tendency to relate Ford to work trucks -- but I'm considering the Edge as it has much to offer.

The tire isn't connected to the ball joint, so I'm not sure what really happened. If you stil post here, could you tell us what the result of the investigation was?

Oh well, this poster created this one message and never logged in to Edmunds again. Guess we'll never find out what really happened.

The dealer and Ford specialist did not give me an answer. They fixed the problem and swept under the rug. i have had not problems since. the dealer was attentive and tried to explain problem may have been caused by wear, but remember the car was only 1 month old at the time of the problem. i will never know what caused the problem.

I have owned my vehichle for five mo now and it seems to continually be in the shop. Two weeks ago the check engine light came on. When I took it in they tried to tell it I owed $49 to reset the light and that my state inspection was up, which was around $80 to do. I refused to pay the light reset for two reasons, 1) they said it was likely just due to the gas cap not on tight. I havean OBSESSION about putting the cap on the waiting to hear 3 clicks..always. But even on somebody's car that this might apply I don't feel there should be any charge on a new car to turn off the light. I also questioned how a car I ordered than came to me brand-new had an inspection that was up in four months. After a lot of headaches I went to the original dealership where I got the vehicle that was out-of-town. It took my whole day there but they did the inspection free of charge. There was a cracked cap in the transmission that was causing a leak so it needed fixed to pass anyway. This they did free of charge-warrany covered. When we first got the car we noticed it pulled to the side. We waited a couple of months to see if it got better but it didn't. It had to go in for that. Then the piece that covers the mechanism on the rear wiper came off, back in for that.

I didn't get the Volkswagen because it had so many quirks according to owners. I really don't feel I got the $41K car I'm paying for. The roof is fun but the sync isn't compatible with palm phones so I don't use it. I think there are better CUVs out there right now for your money.
