While the article chastises the rear amber signals used on the mule in Australia, I for one love them. I wish they were standard on every vehicle in the US. It seems that German and Asian cars only delete them because of the US for some reason. They look brighter, are more distinct and are definitely sportier. What's not to like? I'm particularly distressed when some US cars have them and some don't. Some model years have them and some don't. Pontiac used to come out with a model - like an early '80s Grand Am with red rear lenses, later adding amber and touting them as a "new sporty look." HA! Why not install them from day one? The choice for rear amber lenses should not be for safety - not asthetics. I for one won't buy cars without them.

My question isn't about the car, but why this article is on the front page of Inside Line if the article was written almost 7 months ago? I thought the article was familiar as I was reading it, and then once I saw the date of the article I realized why.

You really cannot compare these 2 cars. An RX-8 is a much different car. It is much smaller than the Camaro. If the Camaro has more power, is faster, and priced similarly to the RX-8, what difference does it make if it is heavy? Also, if you look at the Challenger R/T in Edmund's recent comparision or any tests of the Challenger, that also is a heavy car, even more heavy than the Camaro. Also, the RX-8 is relatively light for its size.

Hey Juxto, looks like you've put some serious time in looking into the new Camaro! I just wanted to comment on a few things quickly. I actually work for a marketing company that takes out various Chevy models for a few months of the year and does street teams to get the cars out into the public in a no-hassle/no-sales type of way, so consumers can learn all about the vehicle -- things a dealer may not even know. In the past we've done the Malibu, Tahoe and Traverse. We're starting the Camaro program today and just had our training yesterday and I got acquainted with the vehicle. I can tell you the hood is NOT made out of aluminum. The front end/grill area of the vehicle are made of recyclable materials, but the hood is not. As far as the spare tire, only the SS model does not come with a spare because the 15" donut doesn't fit over the 14.4" rotors and Brembos. It does come with the inflator pump to get you full and out of any area you might be in. Additionally, with the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), you should know before you start to have a serious issue with a tire. This also makes sense since the SS has two different tires, how could you have only 1 spare? The engine in the V8 has Active Fuel Management which allow the vehicle to drive as a 4 cylinder (better fuel economy) when you let up on the brakes at a steady speed. The V6 engine has direct fuel injection which allows the car to run more efficiently on the fuel it's using and to be more fuel efficient. The automaticgets 1mpg more than the stick in the city on the V6. The V8 automatic gets 1mpg better on the highway. I can't comment on the Mustang thing as I've heard nothing of that, but I do know all dealers have gotten 1 or 2 Camaros in already. Hope I helped.
