Good points you two made. I wasn't thinking about the cost factor, or the nimbleness that comes from a smaller, and lighter car. And we've been on a bigger is better trend for quite a while, where a new car design is nearly always heavier than the previous model. So, I am hoping that future designs will have a better balance of weight, power, and cost. Also, there's one other thing I overlooked. Since the EPA numbers were adjusted for 2008, it makes most new cars' ratings look lower than they should. I think the new numbers are too pessimistic, because I've always been able to meet or slightly exceed the miles per gallon figures of the older numbers, even with no hypermiling techniques.

I want to love Fit. And I almost fit in it. What would make all the difference is if Honda installed a little knob to raise or lower the front of the seat cushion ala the 1998-2002 Accord system.( remember that set up? It really was good) Could use a little more sound deadening in the engine compartment as well. I figure there are people who would want this car with these feature. How much more could that possibly cost? Otherwise, I find the car attractive to look at, pleasant to drive for an economy car, and ingenious in interior design. Please help me love the Fit. Convenient and fun around town--suburban driving--where I get 32 to 35 mpg. I just hauled a large size recliner in the back, much to the unbelief of the habitat folks when I delivered it. I have also hauled a large electric stove and I regularly put my bike in the back without taking off the front wheel. The Fit just fits my needs perfectly. (-: Just one person's report of a reason to love it. Of course, I'm "normal" size at 5'8" and 164 pounds which might be part of the reason it fits me so well. Replying to: tarapuss (Oct 17, 2009 1:23 pm) Performance in icy conditions are all in the tires. If you equip your Fit with tires that perform well in snow/ice, the Fit should do just fine and as well as any other car in like conditions.
