Comparison Test: 2009 Hyundai Genesis 4.6 vs. 2008 Lexus GS 350 - Hyundai isn't shy about its targets for the Genesis. "While Genesis will compete for customers with cars like Lexus ES, Chrysler 300 and Cadillac CTS," the company stated in a press release about the car's pricing, "Genesis' performance capabilities and luxury features are comparable to sedans costing tens of thousands of dollars more." He has to be pulling our legs! Otherwise, why would he bother to pick the bore and not the stroke? Good one, satyrag! You had us going!!

Genesis: better MPG w/ reg. fuel, much larger trunk, larger inside and outside, more airbags? and does not feel as confining as the GS. Of course, the $10,000 money savings helps. GS does have DRL's and ventilated seats. I am hopeful that Hyundai will move some of the features on the 4.6 down to the 3.8 Prem. Pkg soon. Interestingly, the Lincoln MKS is larger, has more interior space and is about the only luxury car that has a folding rear seat and it splits the difference in price I used Edmunds comparison feature and the actual brochures for the cars to determine what they have. More over it feels roomier. However they still buy a GS it is these buyers who will probably look at other similar brands in the same segment viz. a Beemer 5 series/Beemer M/SLK/E/RL etc and not a Hyundai Genesis. Replying to: adamjmank (Sep 12, 2008 7:31 am) What he posted isn't wrong but how he interpreted the data is very misleading. One cm does not equal one in. but he's using that exactly logic to claim somehow the 3.5L has the same displacment as a 3.8L. Read tayl0rd's post, he has in more details.

Actually, in good amounts, as indicated from the number of sales Hyundai has made in the first few months, even without full supply of units. I've also spoken with a good number of owners in this segment, and you'd be surprised to hear how many cross-shopped the Genesis, and those ending up with one. I'd bet you didn't know the Genesis outsold the RL in its very first month, and creeping into GS terriorty, which isn't great in the first place, at least for Toyota standards. The Genesis has already sold more units, a lot more, than the whole run the Phaeton had in the US. PS: what's SLK doing in there?
