Comparison Test: 2009 Hyundai Genesis 4.6 vs. 2008 Lexus GS 350 - Hyundai isn't shy about its targets for the Genesis. "While Genesis will compete for customers with cars like Lexus ES, Chrysler 300 and Cadillac CTS," the company stated in a press release about the car's pricing, "Genesis' performance capabilities and luxury features are comparable to sedans costing tens of thousands of dollars more." Also, when Lexus came out to compete with MB, BMW, et. al., people criticized it's Toyota heritage. Same for Acura and Infiniti. Part of their success was because they were cheaper back then than the others. Same game plan than Hyundai has without the "new" badge. Hyundai said it was going after Lexus with the Genesis, so the market is the same.

Replying to: satyarg (Sep 11, 2008 11:48 am) 1) Auto roll down on all window glasses 2) Passenger Seats Heat/ Cool 3) Rear seat folding 4) rear Map lights 5) memory seats Need improvements. sharp edges in the glove box/ front door pockets While cornering body roll and stability control felt distinctly improvement. Gears desperately hunt for right input climbing hills with and without cruise on. Felt even for small gradients. Although engine Noise is Dampened on par with other Luxury models targeted, Road/Wind Noise is felt. Long Long way to go before considered in Luxury segment |

I know the Lexus has an active cruise control (and cooled passenger seat) available that the Genesis does not.

Replying to: tom17 (Sep 11, 2008 6:09 pm) which makes this whole comparison with the GS irrevelent. I guess we need a new Thread " 2009 Hyundai Genesis vs 2009 Porshe Boxter" Poor Edmunds thought Hyundai was targeting Lexus/Merc and the Beemer

Replying to: adamjmank (Sep 11, 2008 7:18 pm) where did you watch the AD? Is that available online? I thought Hyundai had a method behind this madness of targeting the luxury segment. going after the sports luxury segment is unbelievable. I need to watch the AD

Replying to: satyarg (Sep 11, 2008 7:23 pm) It says the new Genesis is faster than the Porshe boxter and reaches 0-60 in under 5.7 sec. no mention of any of its competitors ( Maxima, C300 and Avalon)-Like when they launched the current sonata model they were comparing with the Camry and Accord

Replying to: adamjmank (Sep 11, 2008 7:27 pm) Although they targeted Camry specifically camry being the market leader in midsize sedans they ended up a distant fourth or fifth behind camry , accord, altima, taurus in sales and appeal. Lets see where they end up now.
