I wonder If you even Read This

Did you even read what Jeff wrote in his post? By the way, discounts are hard to come by on the Genesis, at least currently in most places and for Hyundai standards. Actually, most of the luxury cars right now have HUGE discounts and special financing rates, 5-7K in this class (mid-to-large luxury sedan) is easy to find

While you may think Genesis vs. Lexus comparo is unrealistic, others share different opinions. Edmunds certainly thought the Genesis was a worthy competitor, as has other professionals and consumers.

May be discounts were hard to come earlier.

I was quoted 30,975.00 even before I negotiated for a 3.8 model with 27 miles on it.
by gregory Auto/ Hyland Park, IL.
Thats on a 2009 model before negotiations with Destination included.

I wonder how much value it holds after two years

A badge does not mean superiority however. I would also like to take a stab here that you have never been in or driven a Genesis. If that is true it sure makes it hard to give much credit to your ramblings.

Thanks for Taking a Stab at me
I did drive test drive one and was impressed with the interior and curvy Dash ( although It resembled a subaru tribeca - Which I find is well executed) with lots of standard equipment to list.
Test Driving it on the Highway I felt it was roomy, as big and as hard to corner as an Avalon or an LS.( definitely roomier than a GS)- may be will see them replace Lincolns as a the no 1 choice of limo companies at that price.

Lane changing was like tossing a Van around although it had excellent visibility.

However I miss the refinement of shifts on the GS and the fast cornering feel. ( even on the GS i feel short changed when compared to a 5 series in cornering ability)

What more the front looks a cross between a Merc with Avalon lights and the rear a resembles Beemer to me.

would I drive a car without Identity- No

"...take a stab here" means taking a guess at. It wasn't a "stab" at you personally.

I have a file where I compare Genesis 3.8, Lexus 350, Lincoln MKS and Acura RL as those are the cars I am most interested in purchasing in the future. I do not consider cost until key factors are equal. For my wants, the Genesis has more features than the others.
While not the same, the styles of these cars are very similar.
Also, when Lexus came out to compete with MB, BMW, et. al., people criticized it's Toyota heritage. Same for Acura and Infiniti. Part of their success was because they were cheaper back then than the others. Same game plan than Hyundai has without the "new" badge.
Hyundai said it was going after Lexus with the Genesis, so the market is the same.

Also would add the following missing features taken for granted in the luxury segment

1) Auto roll down on all window glasses
2) Passenger Seats Heat/ Cool
3) Rear seat folding
4) rear Map lights
5) memory seats

Need improvements.

sharp edges in the glove box/ front door pockets
While cornering body roll and stability control felt distinctly improvement.
Gears desperately hunt for right input climbing hills with and without cruise on.
Felt even for small gradients.
Although engine Noise is Dampened on par with other Luxury models targeted, Road/Wind Noise is felt.

Long Long way to go before considered in Luxury segment

I am curious, what features does the Genesis 3.8 have that the Lexus GS350 does not? Hopefully you are comparing fully loaded to fully loaded. I know the Lexus has an active cruise control (and cooled passenger seat) available that the Genesis does not.

Just saw the latest ads on TV today where Hyundai is comparing Genesis to none other than Porshe Boxter.
which makes this whole comparison with the GS irrevelent.

I guess we need a new Thread " 2009 Hyundai Genesis vs 2009 Porshe Boxter"

Poor Edmunds thought Hyundai was targeting Lexus/Merc and the Beemer
