Comparison Test: 2009 Hyundai Genesis 4.6 vs. 2008 Lexus GS 350 - Hyundai isn't shy about its targets for the Genesis. "While Genesis will compete for customers with cars like Lexus ES, Chrysler 300 and Cadillac CTS," the company stated in a press release about the car's pricing, "Genesis' performance capabilities and luxury features are comparable to sedans costing tens of thousands of dollars more." Edmunds certainly thought the Genesis was a worthy competitor, as has other professionals and consumers. May be discounts were hard to come earlier. I was quoted 30,975.00 even before I negotiated for a 3.8 model with 27 miles on it. by gregory Auto/ Hyland Park, IL. Thats on a 2009 model before negotiations with Destination included. I wonder how much value it holds after two years |

Test Driving it on the Highway I felt it was roomy, as big and as hard to corner as an Avalon or an LS.( definitely roomier than a GS)- may be will see them replace Lincolns as a the no 1 choice of limo companies at that price. Lane changing was like tossing a Van around although it had excellent visibility. However I miss the refinement of shifts on the GS and the fast cornering feel. ( even on the GS i feel short changed when compared to a 5 series in cornering ability) What more the front looks a cross between a Merc with Avalon lights and the rear a resembles Beemer to me. would I drive a car without Identity- No |

Also, when Lexus came out to compete with MB, BMW, et. al., people criticized it's Toyota heritage. Same for Acura and Infiniti. Part of their success was because they were cheaper back then than the others. Same game plan than Hyundai has without the "new" badge. Hyundai said it was going after Lexus with the Genesis, so the market is the same.
