What's with the caps and the frown emoticon? What Jeff offered in his post is likely what Hyundai intended to do. Just because you don't agree with, doesn't mean it is not true and his post should be dismissed.

By the way, the car in question is $42K, not $30.

PS: you and adam, is it that hard to spell boxster?

the truth is this car is being offered at $30,750 with destination and leased for $349.00/ month for 24 months for $2100.00 down.which puts it right in the Avalon, C hrysler 300, Maxima, Taurus and accord league which are its true competition.

the price reductions and lease offer rates prove that.

this i no luxury segment killer

I can give you the dealers names and their print AD details

I was quoted 30,975.00 even before I negotiated for a 3.8 model with 27 miles on it.
by gregory Auto/ Hyland Park, IL.
Thats on a 2009 model before negotiations with Destination included.
And Now I see LEASE offer ads in the newspapers yesterday in the tribune and the pioneer press for 349/ month with 2100 down.
I can offer u more details if want to come and buy them in the midwest.

I wonder how much value it holds after two years

What truth? You have to read what I wrote before you go off-tangent with whatever you are writing. You were talking about the commercial, which I told you the car used in the commerical MSRP for 42K.

We get it, your dealer gave you 30K for a Genesis. Good for you, you don't have to re-iterate in EVERY single post, we got it the first time.

You just proved my point. When people were talking about the large cash discounts on the GS (which is normal for the current economy), you and other Lexus fanatics go all out defending there are no cash discounts offered whatsoever, yet you make such big deal for the little $$$ off on a Genesis by some dealer. You are in such denial here.

Only time will tell but ALG has an estimated 66% retained value after two years; 50% after three years, better than most of the luxury competitors.

I don't know about you but this speaks volume for the Hyundai brand.

I work for a PR firm, and we have a good number of automotive clients, both the actual makers and their suppliers.

Like I said earlier, I am not blindly praising the Genesis. Personally, I don't own either a Toyota/Lexus nor a Hyundai; I have no affiliation with either brands so I would like to think my interest/biases in either of them is min. Bottom line, I came away extremly impressed after my seat time in the Genesis, so much so I rated above the GS, price differences or not. While you don't have to share the same opinions as I do, at least be a little open-minded - not everything is strictly dictated by price or the brand name. The GS is generally about 7-10K (MSRP) above the Genesis, depending on trim and equipment, but to be frank, even if the gap was closer, the Genesis would still be the winner in my book. Still, both sedan are very good, both have room for improvements, however.

You should be happy for the arrival of the Genesis. If anything, it just puts the other automakers on notice, and trust me they have. Now they have to work even harder to make their products better, which benefits you and me, and others.

agree with joe--this new genesis puts the automakers in a bad situation. VW tried to fool the public with there massive/overpriced PHATON (spelling) and that didn't work but HYUNDAI has under cut the price by more then a third (more with discounts) and the reviews back them. I have not driven (nor seen) this car yet but seems to me they have found a winner. Even if lexus and MB are not worried yet about this car i can tell you BUICK, lincoln, and Chrysler sure better be.

All Toyota and Honda products are overpriced and have been for years and Hyundai is taking advantage of it. BTW, this includes Lexus and Acura. In 2007, between my dealer and Hyundai, I got my Azera for $3,000 off MSRP. The Veracruz can be had for $3,000 off MSRP before the dealer discounts right now.
The Genesis is extremely well equiped compared to competitors and the price is marvelos. The competitors are Lexus ES/GS, Buick Lucerne, Lincoln MKS, Chrysler 300 and Cadillac DTS. Toyota was worried about the Azera, Sonata and planned Veracruz three years ago per its CEO; how do you think they feel now about the Genesis?

they maybe overpriced but they sell --sales numbers don't lie . Thats the reason you can get deals on HYundais and not toyota cars. I hope they sell a boat load of GENESIS.
