We have had trouble with our transmission shifting since buying our 2008 Limited. It some time hesitates on acceleration. It also over revs on the 4 to 5 shift. We have had it to the dealer twice and both times the flashed the PCM and for a few days it will be ok then start to do this worse.

Our 07 Edge has always overused 4th since it was new. Downshifting from 6th directly to 4th skipping 5th entirely. When upshifting it tends to hang in 4th too long, shifts to 5th then immediately to 6th, not using 5th at all. We've had it back to the dealer several times and they said everything is fine after test driving and checking the computer. A friend told me his does the same thing. Seems to be a common problem. I keep hoping Ford will update the computer to correct this problem.

Thanks for the post. It sounds just like our 2008. We have had the PCM flashed twice. They told us this is like a sevice pack up date on your computer. But you are right it is a software issue.
