They aren't getting any more cars either so prices seem to be creeping up. The sales volume in May was healthy, so dealers may be gambling that demand will eventually exceed supply. The only thing that would depress G8 prices is if GM announced that the G8 will be rebadged as a Chevy or Buick in the future. So far GM claims the G8 is gone from the USA forever.

GM considering G8 for core brand?
06/08/2009 By Drew Johnson, LeftlaneNews
The Pontiac brand will cease to exist after next year, but one of the brand’s brightest stars could live on in one of General Motors’s remaining brands. GM CEO Fritz Henderson has stated that no Pontiac model will live on in the ‘new’ General Motors, but one GM exec has hinted there might be a future for the G8 sedan.
Tom Stephens, General Motors’ vice chairman of global product development, said the G8’s fate may not be completed sealed. “I know there’s still discussions on it,” he said. Stephens wasn’t overly optimistic the G8 would find a home in the Chevrolet lineup as the next-generation Impala SS – saying “Chevrolet already has several sedans” – but didn’t rule out a version of the G8 for the Buick lineup. Sales of the G8 have actually picked up in recent months – despite a lack of advertising and the winding down of the Pontiac brand – so there is definitely potential for the platform.

Isn't a version of the G8 already sold in other markets as the Impala or Caprice? Other than the Holden from which it was spawned, I thought there was a version sold in the middle east as a Chevy.

$18,900 is the advertised price for a base '09 G8 at Ed Martin Pontiac-GMC in Indianapolis. There is an asterisk after the price that says see dealer for details.

I think that if the only thing that moves G8's is a low price then you better get one while you can because they're not coming back in any form. GM wants cars that sell at a big profit, that's why they kept Buick vs Pontiac. How do the 2 owners of GM feel? The UAW is no fan of the G8 because it's made in Australia not here, and the Government is no fan for that reason plus the MPG is not that great.

Mileage could have been better... other company's seem to come up with a larger car like this and have decent mileage. I do know their intent for the car, bad timing?

That is a great price, though it is not worth near that now out on the open market.

If you are going to keep it for many years, then buying new is a good idea.
Though, real world prices are not lined up with its MSRP, or even the sale price.

I bet the white looks very nice!
