You will find discussions--often spirited--of V6 vs. V8 and other topics at websites devoted to the Pontiac G8, such as www.G8board.com. The MPG that V8 owners report seems to vary widely depending on driving style and percent of highway driving (where VCM can kick in). A buddy of mine has owned a G8-GT (V8) for a year. He drives aggressively and loves to mash the pedal because that’s what puts a smile on his face. He says he averages 13-point-something MPG in mostly city/suburban driving, doing the math at the gas pump. With 3500 miles on my V6, I’m averaging 19+ in mixed city/suburban/highway conditions. I don’t think about saving gas, I just drive. The bottom line is this: If you crave acceleration that slams you back in the seat, get the V8. While the V6 is no slouch, it makes more noise than go when you punch it. If you just want a smooth ride and tight handling in a car that looks good, at a very reasonable price, you will be more than satisfied with the V6. Dealers in Indianapolis are now advertising the G8 at $8100 off MSRP after rebates & discounts.

Local dealer sent me mail advertising one of their "invited customers only" sales, with cars "thousands below invoice" and "0% financing". I am going to go and see what deals I can get on the G8 GT and the GXP. My hopes are low on the GXP since they only have one. They have about 10 GT's (all according to their website). Is the invoice price on Edmunds very accurate? If so, they are only marked up from invoice to MSRP ~$1000? Doesn't seem right.

What dealer had the G8(GT,GXP?) for $8100 off? Dealers here in Md. are not doing anything more than the $3k . Thanks!

Hare Pontiac-Buick-GMC ran the ad in the Indianapolis Star several days. I bought my G8 at Andy Mohr B-P-GMC.

Hi all,
I have not been able to find the GM card rebate for an '09 G8 GT on the GM web site. Can anyone help out?
Would you send a link to the site, or just let me know what the current allowance is? I received a top-off note in the mail this week that allows up to $2K.
Thanks.

they aren't moving these cars.
They aren't getting any more cars either so prices seem to be creeping up. The sales volume in May was healthy, so dealers may be gambling that demand will eventually exceed supply. The only thing that would depress G8 prices is if GM announced that the G8 will be rebadged as a Chevy or Buick in the future. So far GM claims the G8 is gone from the USA forever.
