Vinny as usual you are the man and have the best GM card action! I've got the roundup to $3k offered for many GM-vehicles but will seek that $5K code you mentioned, thanks! quietpro, what are you referring to about the cruise control? the cruise control on my 6-spd GTO is awesome. After 4 years of ownership, I remain hugely impressed with my 05 holden/pontiac - but annoyed that the nearest pedders-authorized-suspension-shop is hundreds of mile from here, now that my radius-rod/bushings/something-near-there is surely trashed. in nearby G8 news, a pal of mine just traded is 04 GTO for a white 6-spd G8-GXP, the day after GM announced the demise of Pontiac... "I like this ship, it's exciting!"

I had the same problem with my 09 Jetta TDI, just not offered with the vehicle and VW parts quite silly expensive ( auto dimming, no homelink, parts alone $330! ). Google "Mito" for the OEM supplier of the day / night and homelink mirrors. I didn't need homelink, got the auto dimming mirror for about $90. I recall the homelink auto dimming was about $260 or thereabouts. They even have OnStar mirrors with auto dimming and homelink for vehicles factory equipped with OnStar to start with ( which I don't believe the G8 has ). A competent stereo installer should be able to handle the auto dimming homelink mirror as well. The only "hard" part is running power to it. If you are doing this, I suggest considering a bluetooth hands free install at the same time. If you go with something like Blue Connect, which builds in to your headliner about the driver ( I like this and have it in both of my cars, the voice recognition and command is worthwhile IMHO ), the installer can run power once and service both devices. Good luck with your G8. If I get one, I am holding out later for a GXP 6 speed manual, if if if. |

thanks for the gmcard info Vinny, & Go Red Sox! quietpro, I hear you about the steering wheel cruise control - that can be nice too. fwiw, on my GTO, when cruise is enabled, one tap on end of stalk will make it inactive/remembering-set-speed. two taps turns it off.

I read the cruise control section in the owner's manual and it doesn't get into enough detail regarding the coast feature/memory. It does work the way elias said. Nice feature. Love the car. I'm just over 500 miles, still in break-in period. The torque curve from the 6 ltr. is great. The car is also fun to put through the twisties here in W.V. Anyone notice that the OEM Good Year's are made in China?
