2008 HIGHLANDER- REAR CAMERA - CHIMES by damifinomike

Is there a way to set a chime to sound or other audible alert when the rear camera senses vehicle is too close to an object or person? My display on the 08 Limited has a short text message appear in yellow, but NO audible alert. Text is pretty hard to see when vehicle is in bright sunlight.

Thanks.

I don't think the stock camera has a way of determining the distance to an objects around it. Are you referring to the text that states "check surroundings for safety"?

I know some dealers/distributors sell proximity sensors; is that what you have in addition to the camera? I had rear sensors (Echomaster) installed by my dealer on my 4Runner when I purchased it, and probably will get it on my next vehicle, even if it has a rear camera.
