Replying to: gem2623 (Aug 07, 2008 4:35 pm) Turning (resufacing) the rotors is a waste of time and money. They will only warp again. New rotors is the way to go. I suggest Brembo rotors (try tirerack.com) and OEM (Toyota) pads. Even at an independent shop this COMPLETE brake job will cost around $300.00.

But the dealer is right, because without resurfacing the discs, the pads would get a short life and squeling is a possiabilty. Because of uneven wear on the pads from distorted discs. And greater damage to the discs over all in the long run.

I have a 1999 toyota 4 runner with 144,000 miles on it. I recently put new front brake pads and rotors on. But it still shimmies when i tough the brakes. If i apply them hard its fine, its only when i am slowly slowing down. what could cause that and how can i get rid of it.... IT DRIVES ME NUTS.
