I just traded my 09 Corolla for a 09 Civic. I really liked the 09 Corolla...it was well built and felt tight,it rode nice, was quiet, got great fuel mileage and offered more features for the same money than the Civic....but it's biggest flaw is the steering. I just couldn't live with the steering of the 09 Corolla. The car always felt like it was being blown around on the road...the car wouldn't go straight in it's lane without constant steering corrections and the faster you went the worst it felt. The whole time I was driving the Corolla,I was thinking about the steering with this car. I often thought I would get pulled over late at night with this car because the cop would think I was drinking...that might be a slight exaggeration, but really the steering felt like that. After driving the car 7K miles I just couldn't take it any longer. The 09 Corolla has got to be the worst steering car made today. A F-250 work truck steers better and is easier to keep in it's lane on the highway than my 09 Corolla was. Love the steering with the 09 Civic...the car just drives straight and you don't think about steering the car. The handling is so much crisper with the Civic and the Civic is simply more fun to drive. The 09 Civic is a bit noiser in the cabin at road speeds than my 09 Corolla, but I think both cars ride comparability. I do find the Civic to be more comfortable for me than was the Corolla. The seat in the Civic feels more supportive around my thighs and is more comfortable for me..... there is more leg room side to side down in the feet area with the drivers side than with the Corolla. So far, I'm happy with the 09 Civic. All cars have pro's and con's. My 09 Corolla was a well built car and I really liked it,except for the steering flaw. I would recommend for anyone who is thinking about a 09 Corolla to take one out for a long test ride on the highway at highways speeds....I wish I had...my test drive was around a collage town and you couldn't really feel the steering flaw at those slow speeds. |

Dispite what the mags say in their road tests when they compare the Civic and the Corolla... too me the Corolla rides very nice, and with it's quiet cabin, and tight overall feel, theres a more refined feel to it than the more sporty and supposely superior Civic..not that the Civic doesn't feel good too, it's just that except for the steering, the Corolla is just as nice if not nicer dispite what the so called professional road tester say in there write ups.......after all these cars are only commuter cars anyways. If only Toyota would address the steering issue.

We were sold a Toyota Corolla LE from Price Leblanc for $19,477. This is how the deal took place. We took a test ride in a basic model of the Toyota Corolla LE and it was priced at MSRP $20,038. We then went into their office and asked for Alloy wheels , mud guards and door sill protectors. The price came to about $21,100. The Sales guy then brought his Sales Manager and he agreed to waive off the charges for the accessories, which was around $1100. They then said they found a car will all the accessories and color we wanted. The Final price was $19,477. We were never shown or informed of the MSRP of car. After we signed the deal we saw the sticker in the glove compartment and the car listed on their website at an MSRP $19,298 (this included accessories). When we questioned the dealer he accepts that they made a lot of profit on our deal even though its a clear case where we were cheated and we ended up paying more than the MSRP.

Meanwhile, if anyone wants to continue this conversation, let's go over to a more appropriate discussion and pick it up at this link: samforu, "Toyota Corolla Prices Paid and Buying Experiences" #675, 31 Jul 2009 2:02 pm. Good luck to you - enjoy your new ride!! |
