#55 of 67 Fixed... I think... by maavalous

It is a bit mind boggling that my dealership couldn't find anyone that was aware of this or that it wasn't already out as a TSB!!
I think the serious vibration problem may have been fixed by replacing the tail shaft. I need to give it another 1,000 miles with no serious vibe to be certain... the original vibe didn't become apparent until around 1,000 miles. Since I now know that Mazda got a bad batch of shafts I can't be positive, yet, that the one they installed isn't also one of the "bad" ones. Statistically, it is possible.
There is still a vibration in the car at highway speeds. It is clearly not as bad as before. Not sure what to attribute the remaining vibe to... tire, motor, suspension, overall design... very hard to say. I have a sneaking suspicion it may be related to the combination of 6th gear and low RPMs (which is great for gas mileage but is the rough-running range for a 4 cyl. motor). It seemed to be less noticeable if I manually shifted down into 5th or 4th while maintaining same speed. So, this may be a "design choice" and nothing "fixable". But, unlike before, I can get over the reamining vibe in time :o)

Thanks for your reply and help!!

Do the test: raise the car up on jackstands. move the tire and wheel with your hand up and down and side to side. check for play. you should not have any play. if you do have play, look carefully around the ball joints, tierod ends and inner tierod.

mine was inner tierod bushings. a $15.00 part and easy fix...

#57 of 67 Squeeking under front of car by sweetie12

I have had my 2007 CX-7 for 1 year and have had a noise under the front end for about 9 months. I first thought it was due to the cold winter months, but I still have it. I had the car in a few weeks ago to have the motor replaced in the sunroof (apparently I'm not the only one) and for this noise. It sounded to me like a noise in the shocks, struts, ball joints, something to that effect. I took the mechanic for a long drive over speed bumps, etc. and he said it was the bushings in the stablizer bar making the noise. They replaced the bushings, but I still have the noise. Is anyone else experiencing this type of problem? It's really irritating!!

Hello and I hope someone reply's to this because I am fed up! I have a 2007 CX-7 and I got new wheels and Toyo Proxes tires about a year and a half ago. A few months afterwards, the wheels felt like they were not balanced so I have had them balanced again. Well, 7 wheel balancing's later and allignment, nothing is working.

This week, I purchased new hub centric rings, verified all 4 wheels were balanced (Road Forced balanced by Gateway Tire) yet, around 60mph, it shakes like I am going over bumps that shakes the entire car. Then around 70mph, my steering wheel starts to shake like the freaking wheels are out of balance!

I have spent money and time and I am out of options. I took it to the dealership and like you and I already know, they can't do crap because of the custom wheels on it. I know for a fact that I am not the only person who has custom wheels on their CX-7. I don't have another set of wheels to put on to see if it does the same with other wheels.

I think it is something other than the wheels because of the really bad shaking and I have noticed when I hit a bump, the wheels sort of feel loose in a odd sort of way...Anyone witness any of this and did you find a resolution???

Hello,

I purchased a 2010 Cx 7 (non Turbo), I replaced factory 17" wheels/tires, with OEM 18" spec tires, and wheels. I have had numerous balancing, tire rotations, still has vibration. I have 5K miles on the vechile. Dealership check alignment, stated that all is within spec, car continues to vibrate (60, and 80mph), I don't know what to do, can anyone please assit?

Thank You.

Sound from Variable Valve Timming this VVT works base on oil pressure, very common on Cx7

I had the same or typically that same problem. Mazda had to replace the drive shaft that goes from the transmission to the rear drive.
Before they did that they did same repairs they did to yours.

#64 of 67 Mazda CX-7 Wheel bearing/hub = vibration by taz6

Dec 23, 2012 (2:53 pm)

Been getting an increasing vibration noise from the transmission area of my 2007 CX-7 GT AWD with 69K. Increases under load, but diminishes when turning right. Not affected by braking or placing vehicle in neutral. Mechanic took a quick ride and then put it on the lift and showed me the laterial movement (side to side) in the left rear wheel. Looked like the lug nuts were loose, but he said the left rear wheel bearing is no good and it a requires a full hub assembly replacement. Then he adds the right rear is worn also, not as bad, and suggests both be replaced for safety. been checking around and this seems to be a common Mazda problem. Anyone else?
