First Look: 2010 Chevrolet Camaro - The V8 model of the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro — called the SS — won't have that showcar ornamentation either. Chevy is holding back on revealing the SS for reasons that make sense only within the confines of GM's headquarters at the Renaissance Center in downtown Detroit, even though it looks very nearly identical to the V6 model with the RS package. One comment: The V8 is called "hefty", giving the impression that its a dinosaur. That's not true: this V8 weighs around what a typical DOHC V6 does - around 450# WITH accessories (sorry I don't know the exact #). I happen to be driving a turbo 4 with various advanced technologies at the moment. It's a marvel of the "throw all the tech in the lab at it" school of design, while the LS series is from the school of "do more with less" - fewer parts and lower costs. The V8 runs under lower stress and will be much easier to maintain after 100K miles. I get far better city mpg, but highway mileage is be comparable to the V8. If I had the choice, I'd trade my hyper-tech 4 for the V8 and take the subway to avoid city driving.

Kind of curious why only 3:27:1 rear end gearing with 19 or 20 inch rims. Why not a 3:43:1 rear end? And if not stock will there be the ability to upgrade at the manufacturer or dealership level?
