Sometimes my 2003 Rav 4 front wheel drive runs like it's really struggling to go when I step on the gas and when I release the pedal is stops almost instantly, as though the brake was on and it isn't. When it runs this way it won't go into reverse either. Yesterday it ran this way then wouldn't go into reverse for awhile then did after sitting for 20 minutes or so. Then it ran great, like there was nothing wrong.
I've heard that there's a transmission line under the car that can become misadjusted and that this is common.
 
Can anyone shed some light on this?

I am having the same thing happening. It beeps at night. Just beeps 3 times. Ran outside to check and everything is normal. It's disturbing. Can anyone please explain?
