the news showed lots of states charging $5 for gas.

Luckily for me it only jumped about $0.20 from yesterday, up to $3.799. Also, I won't have to fill up again until Friday at the earliest, even though I filled yesterday. I'm still peeved that I couldn't put gas in my car yesterday morning. It was $3.429 in the morning and $3.599 in the afternoon. Didn't have money in the morning to buy it though. A little annoyed, but I'll get over it.

Prices up about a dime in the Seattle area today...2500 miles from the storm, where likely no Texas oil flows...

I have two older cars that I alternate driving. On average, I have to fill one or the other up every 3 weeks or so. Week and a half ago (Sept 4?) in anticipation of Hurricane Hanna, I filled up the BMW $3.42 for reg. On Friday morning, I filled up the Sentra $3.39 for reg. Later on Friday, most stations were up around $3.75+/- 5 cents. Now, I'm good to go for another 4 or 5 weeks. Hopefully by then prices will have come back down.

Seems to be about $4.19 on average around here. Some stations were at $3.99 but they are sold out. In fact a lot of the stations around here have run dry. It was total pandemonium on Friday. Every station had people lined up into the street regardless of their prices. I've never seen anything quite like it.

Another reason why I don't live down in that area. Also a reason that I don't go below half tank if I can avoid it; it allows for me to have a little breathing room in case there is a sudden spike.

...why, with oil down over $3 a barrel and wholesale gas down 17 cents a gallon, RUG at my local station is still up 18 cents?

Granted, I'm not a business genius, but that seems a little strange to me.

Unless they are just trying to rip us off. Nah, they'd never do something like that.

Large corporations ripping the little people off. I've never heard of that in my life.
