especially the 6000 were just awful.

No kidding, I think the 6000 stood for 6000 buttons. I don't have fond memories of those cars. The only time I rode in one I was with a friend heading to Indianapolis and it died in the middle lane of I-465 and nearly got us killed.

But hey, this is definitely a rare bird.

That has the same dash as the Celebrity IIRC...and that has to be a very rare car anymore.

We had a Ciera when I was little...it had a different dashboard design, with a taller wide instrument panel. It was fairly plush and didn't cry out "piece of crap" like a Celebrity seemed to.

They are both better looking than most of the designs coming from Japan today. There were some ugly Buicks along the way. Not sure of the years.

I dunno....Avalon, Maxima, '01 Park Avenue? I don't think any is a clear winner on looks. Either way, I'm doing no better than low 20s around town no matter which one I pick, so they are all out of contention!

Low 20s around town is about where I like to be, but none of those cars are my cup of tea.

"...speak with consumers in New York who have recently dumped a truck or SUV..."

Tell your reporter to come up my way. He/she could walk from house to house on the hoods of all the large vehicles for sale on lawns and never touch the ground.

It's like a 20 mile long used car lot.

Let's Thank The Speculators by oldfarmer50

I heard a news story today that investigations have determined that big speculators were the primary cause of the big run-up in oil prices. This article said that these same speculators are causing the current drop in oil.

I can believe that the last part of that is true. Today, with a hurricane bearing down on the gulf, OPEC cutting production and US inventories down we still saw oil drop 50 cents.

So let's hoist a glass to all those fat cats. I only hope they are trying to short oil down to about $35/barrel.

No, no, no. It was Big Oil. They had to pay for all those gifts to gov officials.

Fuel shot up 20 cents here yesterday. I'm not hoisting a glass to anyone.

The way I see it they missed out on an excuse to raise prices when the last hurricane skipped through the Gulf and it did less damage than everyone was expecting. With Ike, they figured they'd raise the prices before it had a chance to cause any damage to the oil wells.

Sensing such an underhanded move, I filled up the day before the increase.
