Oh, c'mon. An 1980s Park Avenue and a 2001 Park Avenue are radically different:
1988 Buick Park Avenue
2001 Buick Park Avenue

There's a Park Ave like that later style in the parking lot today. I think they're nice looking cars. Wouldn't mind getting a nice, low mileage one, but I worry about that intake manifold issue. Plus, I doubt if nice ones are easy to come by anymore. I think the last year they built them was 2005, and I think their popularity dropped off pretty sharply after the 2000 LeSabre came out.

I always thought the '97 and later Park Aves were nice looking on the outside, but man you won't find a cheaper interior on another car in that price range. Plus they just feel cheap, and I hope you like that floating dramamine required dynoride suspension.

Yeah, I'm not so impressed with the interiors of them. I think once the 2000 LeSabre came out, its interior was actually a bit nicer than the Park. Plus it grew a few inches over the '92-99 style LeSabre, putting it closer to the Park Ave in size and interior room. I would've probably felt like a fool if I bought a new one, but used, I could handle the sub-par interior. After all, I've owned a few late 70's Mopars!
Is their handling really that queasy? What if you get the supercharged model? I imagine those were firmed up a bit?
A few years back, I test drove a used 2000 LeSabre Custom. By that time, I had gotten used to the firmer feel of my 2000 Intrepid, and especially the 1989 Gran Fury copcar I had before that. So compared to those two, this LeSabre just seemed vague and wallowy. I heard the Limited is better, though.

Don't know about the Ultra's but the standard Park Ave's are very soft.

Yeah, but a late '80s park avenue could still pass for a car from the '70s.
I have a friend with a '96 Century. It has a body of a typical car from the mid '80s and an interior from the mid '70s.

A 96 Century is effectively an 82 Century, IIRC

...I like the plush interior of my 1988 Park Ave better than that of any recent Park Ave. Heck, if you can merge the interior of my '88 with the exterior of an '04 or '05, you'd have a pretty sweet ride!

Hey, don't insult the 70's like that! I say that simply because I think the '82-96 Century had one of the most awful looking interiors of that era. I don't mind the velour on the seats, but it was just the dashboard I always hated. Those A-bodies in general just seemed to have interiors that were a random mish-mash of shapes. I think the Cutlass Ciera was actually okay, but the Century, Celebrity, and especially the 6000 were just awful.
