Unfortunately, I use maybe 2-2.5 for each complete mowing session. But, then again, I don't have a boat, rv, motorcycle, etc. that uses up the precious resource.

Man, I must really be an "evil doer". I have a boat, travel trailer,SUV, portable generator, gas weedwacker, gas leaf blower, and a lawn tractor.

We take the boat out is often as possible, and I'm still burning $4.30/gal gas from last fall. Haven't put gas in the boat yet this year, we were out Sunday and I think we are down to about 1/2 a tank.

I met a guy this weekend at the lake that was a heavy equipment operator in Chicago. He drives an f250 to work and back. His commute is 103 miles each way!!

I don't think premium would hurt the lawn equipment, but it wouldn't do anything for it, either. However, as the equipment ages, just like a car, they might benefit from the higher octane. I usually just put 87 in my equipment, though.

I know a small engine mechanic who says use premium in all 1 cyl engines. It only costs a few pennies and makes them easier to start.

Strange, I think my lawn tractor manual explicitly states not to use premium due to the possibility of excessive carbon build up. Most are low compression engines that only require like 86 octane (IIRC) I don't see how the slower combustion properties of premium would help it start, but I have no real way of knowing.

I've never used premium in any of my gas lawn equipment and I've only had starting issues when it was time for a carb rebuild, which has been getting more frequent with the higher ethanol content. I had to rebuild the carb in my lawn tractor after only 3 years, and my John Deere push mower has had two carb rebuilds, but it's going on 13 years old. Always starts on the first pull. Both have Briggs and Stratton engines. I always use Stabil, but the lawn tractor came with our house which we bought in 07, so it may not have been stored properly the winter before I got it.

I have a Stihl grass trimmer that's also 13 years old and it always starts right up and I've never done anything to it. It's starting to get a bit weak, so I'm thinking it maybe losing compression and probably about time to replace it. It's never had premium either.

It is just another Ponzi scheme to catch the gullible. I would tell you to get out before you lose money. It is too late you have already taken the worm hook, line and sinker. Good luck, you will need it trying to sell that stuff to anyone that knows about cars.

PS
When they sell it at Costco I will give it a try....
