high gas prices have an effect that might take a while to get to where you are.
it is kind of a domino thing.

It does sound like an honest mistake

But it is nothing like an honest mistake. He was informed by the IMF (his employer at the time) that they were not withholding FICA taxes and that he was liable for them. They even paid him extra to cover the extra taxes he would have to pay. He knew full well that he had to pay them.

"...If gas hits $4 this summer then it's back to Hamburgers on the grill..."

If gas hits $4 this summer it might as well be a short rope over a rafter in the barn for me.

if it gets that bad, i hope you only can afford to buy a thin rope, which will snap, causing you to hit your and knocking some sense back into you.
in the mean, time turn up the heat, i think you are suffering from a brain freeze.

HuffPo says he was nominated because he can speak Chinese (gotta be able to talk to the people that hold all our debt) and because he was trained by Kissinger (ultimately leading to his last job at the NY Fed). POTUS needs to move on with another nominee and forget about reaching out to Wall Street and the loyal opposition.

Now that I've vented, can we move on? Host's prerogative and all?

Countywide gas prices continue to rise

Yeah, San Diego County. I thought it said countrywide at first too. The link does say that the national average for regular gas is now $1.848.

steve wrote in response to previous posts :
"The thing I like about what little I know about Geitner is that he's tried to do his own taxes for years. I always to do mine too, with a little help from TaxAct and I resent that if I really want to save money I have to go hire a tax preparer to help me with them. No one else in the running has likely done anything but drop shoe boxes of receipts off at their CPA for twenty years and thus has no clue how convoluted the whole process is.

Back to the topic, gas is creeping up here in spite of cheap barrels of oil on the world market and I'll predict $2 a gallon gas here by March 1. From there it's only another eight weeks to $3 a gallon gas. And then it'll be hurricane season. "

No biggie but it's spelled Geithner, Timothy F.
Question in my mind is , do they not do any vetting before you become President of the NY Fed or Vice-Chairman of the open market committee. Contango does point to higher oil/gas but I think we'd be very hard pressed see $3 this year in this deflationary environment. Citibank taps for another $12b, Fnma for 35b and cash rich msft laying off workers. Fast forward this year please. On another note Chrysler sells off 35%
( potentially) of the company and doesn't get any money?

I think $3 is doable.

The year is early yet.

(nobody ever goes back and checks these predictions anyway, lol)

Don't you wish you could substitute "401k" for "Gas Prices" in this headline?

Gasoline Prices Rose 15% So Far This Year

$1.85 looks to be the norm nationwide.

Yes, Jay Leno was calling them 201K after this year. I believe it would be more like a 301K.
