VW has to send Kia thank you letters for keeping them off the bottom of the list. The are rated worse than Isuzu and we don't even get those anymore. That is a long way from good unless you have pretty low expectations.

I was thinking about those people who took advantage of that (IIRC) GM promotion a while back of $3/gallon gas for so many years. If memory serves you had the choice between that or a rebate, I wonder how many people are kicking themselves for the wrong choice.
 
Hopefully the new regime in Washington does not try to stick it to US with a higher gas tax.
 
Smart money is on them raising some tax somewhere in the not to distant future.

How much would one of the 1000s stranded by Amtrak in Chicago give for the use of my 4X4 Sequoia?
 
As one who drove the streets of the Chicago metro area that day all I can say is you would have been better off walking that day.

Of course, even travel in the Sequoia would be a crap shoot in the Midwest this time of year - so many accidents and road closures, you can't count them all.
 
I had to drive to northern Indiana yesterday from central Illinois to pick up my daughter from my parents house and bring her home for xmas. Freezing rain, 40mph winds, then snow during my 140mile, 4 hour trek there. Saw many cars off in the medians, jack knifed semi's etc. and a few rolled over Trailblazers. The Expedition got there and back with ease. Though I will say, the portion of the interstate that had .25-.5 inch of black ice, that wasn't particularly fun. I was glad when the I got further north in Indiana where the roads were covered in snow.

Please, Kia as a company has been on the bottom of the dependability list for so long they may get a lifetime achievement award. If the company has been making lemons that long why would I expect it to be any better today? You do know they went bankrupt and Hyundai was almost forced to buy them by the Korean government? Do a search on the subject. After three years we can come back and review this subject but I am not expecting any major improvements by kia. Sure they may be better than walking but from where they are on the list walking is a possibility. SO they have a long way to go before they can be called "good"

I spent over a hour to go 20 miles yesterday in Indiana. I was in a 2WD Sonoma with no sand bags in the bed and tires I bought in Florida. It took me 5 minutes to get up a bridge over I-70 overpass. I had to change lanes to get enough traction to move forward. some people were stuck with no traction to go forward. I had to put it in N to use brakes to keep the back end from coming around and sending me off the road. Today I cut some 2x4's to fit the bedliner slots. Now I need some waterproof weights. That was 3rd ice storm in last 10 days. Gas was $1.45 so I stopped to top off.

merry xmas everyone.
dave, i used to wrap sandbags in large plastic trash bags then tape them closed. it would last through the winter and it was cheap. 3 bags were good for an f150.
since both my kids are around, they are going through $20-25 gas a week.
glad it isn't $4.00+ a gallon.
having a bunch of family over for dinner today. i am sure they will drive the 'big iron' since gas prices are low.
