Hey all- I just paid $2.03 today for my gas. I was excited that I could fill up my car from 1/4 tank for $22 and that'll last me a while. Then again I still have to deal with the fact that my mileage sucks because we have 10% ethanol and that gives us a net 6% decrease in economy, I'm not sure of the exact numbers, but I'm just guessing. Somebody else who knows about the chemistry is going to have to help me on that one. I know people who are able to get 34 mixed with the same model and it sounds like they drive like I do, i.e. no hypermiling, just normal driving. The most I've cracked is 29.5 in my Accord 4cylinder with a 60/40 city/hwy split. |

AutoObserver reported the other day that "with plummeting gasoline and diesel prices, some industry insiders are beginning to question if even seemingly definitive investment commitments for smaller, more fuel-efficient models, advanced powertrains and hybrid-electric technology may suffer some kind of "reconsideration."

So we have now seen $4.00 gas and just about everyone is making a hybrid and hybrids might suffer? The CEO of Toyota stands in front of the cameras and says he is committed to having a hybrid of every model of Toyota and we should worry that suddenly everyone is going to abandon hybrids? (not trying to shoot the messenger here Steve.) But this may be just another time we might want to remember who was crying wolf not all that long ago. I believe AutoObserver said we would never get back to $2.50 gas again. Wait, did we feel it? Is the sky falling?
