Hi Folks, Just joined this club and I'm glad I found it! I have been having trouble removing my right front hub/bearing assembly. This is where I am at so far... I have, of course, the tire, rotor and caliper removed. I have taken off the axle nut. I am now at the point where I want to remove the old hub/bearing unit. I do not have the clearance to get a socket onto the three bolts on the inside of the steering knuckle that release the hub unit. The CV joint is in my way and I am not sure how to take this off. I read in the service manual that I will have to take off the entire steering knuckle assembly in order to take off the hub unit? Is there another way around this? I am having trouble getting the assembly off. Can I somehow remove the CV joint alone so I have clearance for the sockets to take off the hub unit? I am used to changing brakes, calipers and other misc issues, this is the first time I've tackled something like this... Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Craig J. |
